I play board games with a group in which someone has this same tendency. It drives me up the wall as well. 

Another big pet peeve of mine is someone's cell phone going off during mass. It is usually at the worst possible time, during the gospel, the homily, or during the consecration. A priest in town, not at my parish, has a little hammer. If someone's cell phone goes off during mass, he will get his hammer, hold it up, and ask if the person needs some "help" turning it off.

Without getting into the topic of mandatory celibacy for clergy, I think celibacy can be a great gift for those called to it.

That is in fact the whole point. You have to have the charism, or if circumstances, e.g., canon law, impose it upon you when you don't have the charism, you pay the price. It's high.

I have always wondered about the apostles..........
many were married, as far as I have imagined,
and did their families get abandoned?

Something that irks me......

The more commonplace and very often use of foul, vulgar, crass, coarse language out of both men and women, including the "f" bomb!!!  Even out of some Catholics I know!   Several months ago, I finally mustered up the courage to say to the one (who is Catholic), "... is this how Christ spoke"?
